This is a nice fossil fish. It is a large Knightia from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. The fossil fish is extremely well preserved and exhibits wonderful detail. The eye socket is easily seen. The fins are very defined. The gill covers are quite evident. This fish has natural dark coloration and contrasts nicely with the cream-colored rock. It is almost perfectly centered on the rectangular matrix plate. This is a beautiful example of a fossil fish from the Eocene.
