Here is a great specimen of an unusual predatory fish. This is Eohiodon falcatus from the Green River Shale of Wyoming. Only a handful of these rare ''mooneye'' fish are found each year, and this is a beautiful one. The fish is wonderfully articulated and exhibits fabulous detail. The bone structure is easily seen, and the fins and tail are wonderfully displayed. The eye socket is quite evident and MANY large teeth are easily seen in the open mouth - wow! The fish has fine natural color and contrast and is almost perfectly centered on the rectangular plate of shale. And the fossil has been professionally framed for optimal display. This is an extremely collectible example of this highly uncommon predatory fish from the Eocene.
