This is a classic fossil fish. It is a complete Knightia eocaena from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. This fine fossil fish is extremely well preserved and exhibits great detail. The eye socket is easily seen, and the fins are beautifully displayed. The dark-colored fish contrasts wonderfully with the cream-colored matrix. The fossil herring is well showcased on the semi-oval plate of shale. This is a very fine example of Knightia humilis from the famous Fossil Lake Deposits of Wyoming.
