This is an extremely unusual multiple plate of fossil fish from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. We counted one predatory Mioplosus (rare), eight Knightia and one Diplomystus, but that is a conservative estimate. It is interesting that there are three different types of fish - that is quite uncommon. The fossils exhibit fine detail - the eye sockets are easily seen, and the bone structure of the fish is quite evident. The fins and tails are also nicely intact. The fossils have excellent color and contrast and are artistically, but naturally, scattered about the large (almost two feet across!) matrix plate. This is a very displayable grouping of different fossil fish on a large matrix plate.
